Traffic disruptions due to NATO Summit 24–25 June 2025

At Special Cargo Group, we would like to inform our customers about expected traffic disruptions in the Netherlands due to the upcoming NATO Summit, which will take place in The Hague on 24 and 25 June 2025.

As this is a high-security international event, extensive traffic and safety measures will be implemented throughout the surrounding areas – particularly in and around Schiphol Airport. These measures may affect not only our logistics operations to and from Europoort/Rotterdam, Schiphol and IJmuiden, but also the training sessions we are delivering in Rotterdam and near Schiphol during this period.

Key Information:

  • Traffic measures: temporary traffic restrictions will apply from 17:00 on Sunday, 22 June until 05:00 on Friday, 27 June.
  • Affected roads: measures are expected on the A4, A5, A44, and N44, as well as on local roads in the region. These roads may be closed for short periods to allow escorted summit convoys to pass.
  • Delays likely: expect delays during morning and evening peak hours, particularly from Monday, 23 June through Thursday, 26 June.
  • Operational impact: delays may affect the timely delivery and pickup of cargo, especially on routes to and from Schiphol and the Randstad region, with potential knock-on effects for onward connections.
  • Port of Rotterdam: the port will remain accessible as usual to maritime traffic during the NATO Summit.

Recommended actions:

To help reduce the risk of operational delays during this period, we advise you the following:

  • Plan ahead: if possible, advance your shipments and collections scheduled around this timeframe.
  • Earlier delivery window: we recommend delivering export cargo 15 to 10 hours prior to the Latest Acceptance Time (LAT).
  • Training sessions: these will go ahead as planned. Plan your journey in advance, for example via vananaarbeter.nl. Keep an eye on current traffic updates and follow the designated diversion routes.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and take appropriate steps to safeguard our service commitments. Should you have any questions or require specific support, please reach out to your Special Cargo contact.
